About the Zeiss trademarks[]

A detailed account about the Zeiss trademarks juridical "battle" can be found in this page of the Zeiss official website. The first trial took place in Germany around 1954, followed by a series of others, presumably in other "Western" countries. The last one was in London in 1971. In terms of dates, it seems that the Eastern company abandoned the traditional trademarks on export products after the first trial, that probably forbid the sale in West Germany. For the lenses, they sometimes put a second lens bezel above the original one to mask the engraving. For some cameras it changed the nameplate, like the Contax D/E/F with Pentacon nameplates. For other models it altogether changed the name, like Tenax to Taxona. --Rebollo fr 19:44, 1 November 2006 (EST)
