Polaroid Super Swinger

The Polaroid Super Swinger was a rigid plastic bodied instant camera, made in the UK in 1972 and sold at a retail price of £7.30, making it the cheapest Polaroid camera ever. Called the Zip in the US, this camera was only capable of black and white photos with an ISO of 3000. Correct exposure was enabled via a curious twisting motion on the shutter button. A checkerboard would reveal the word YES when the correct amount of light was registered by the electric eye.

SpecificationsEdit

  • Film type: Peel-apart 80-Series Land Pack Films (3 1/4" x 3 3/8", image=2 3/4" x 2 7/8"). Black and white type 87 (ISO 3000) was recommended.
  • Accepts AG-1 flashbulbs.
  • Shutter requires two standard 1.5V AA batteries.
  • Manual distance focus of the plastic meniscus lens. (Not coupled to viewfinder).
  • Neck strap.
