The 35S Electro Set and 35 SC series were rangefinder cameras introduced by Olympus in 1962. The 35S Electro Set was the last Olympus rangefinder with automatic exposure powered by selenium meter, and the 35 SC was the first Olympus rangefinder with a cadmium disulfide meter[1].

The two models featured:

  • built-in body-mount selenium meter in the 35S Electro Set, fully coupled for shutter-priority and program automatic exposure. Setting a combination of shutter speed and ASA film sensitivity allowed meter to mechanically set aperture. Setting shutter speed to 'A' allowed automatic exposure to program both shutter speed and aperture. Exposure readiness shown with brightline indicator.
  • built-in body-mount CdS meter in the 35 SC, coupled to shutter speed, aperture and ASA settings.
  • 7-element G.Zuiko 42 mm / f 1.8 fixed lens fitted on either model.
  • Copal shutter in the 35S Electro Set with speeds 1 sec to 1/500 sec plus 'A' (automatic) and B mode, with X and M flash-synchronization.
  • Copal SV shutter in the 35 SC with speeds 1 sec to 1/500 sec plus B mode, with X and M flash synchronization[2],

The 35S Electro Set was marketed for only a year and was succeeded in 1963 by the Olympus 35 SC. The 35 SC was then replaced by the Olympus 35 LE in 1965.
