Biogon series was created by Ludwig Bertele in 1935. However it was not until 1954 that the lens was manufactured. Unlike the 1935 design, these 1954 lenses used a 90º angle for an ultra wide angle. Schneider, Lieca, and Hasselblad have used the design of the Biogon for their own lens manufacturing. The original list of Biogon series included ƒ4.5/21mm and ƒ4.5/28mm. In 1955 Hasselblad used the design in their ƒ4.5/ 53mm and ƒ4.5/75mm, they where characterised as Ultra-wide for medium format.
